Over 30 Years Experience in Orthopedic & Neuro Spine Surgeries.

Why Patients Choose Us

1) Care led by a top neurosurgeon. Desert Spine and Pain is led by a neurosurgeon—not a general orthopedic surgeon—which means advanced training in the brain, spinal cord, and nerve pathways. Dr. Greenwald’s background brings precision and safety to every diagnostic and surgical decision. Learn more about Dr. David L. Greenwald, MD, F.A.C.S..

2) Proven, minimally invasive options. When appropriate, we use minimally invasive surgery (MIS) to reduce muscle disruption, shorten hospital stays, and speed recovery. Explore Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS).

3) A conservative-first philosophy. Most patients don’t need surgery. We start with evidence-based nonoperative care including Physical Therapy, targeted Injections for Pain, and other Non-Invasive Treatments.

4) Clear, patient-centered guidance. Spine problems can be intimidating. We translate complex anatomy and imaging into plain language, outline options and timelines, and help you decide what’s best for your goals and lifestyle.

5) Comprehensive care in Phoenix. From first consult to recovery, our team coordinates your evaluation, procedures, follow-ups, and ongoing care at our Phoenix location.

Our Care Philosophy

Conservative first, surgical when necessary. We begin with the least invasive, most effective options. Many patients improve with a structured plan that may include Physical Therapy, activity modification, medications, and targeted Epidural Steroid Injections. When surgery is the best path to lasting relief, we explain the approach, alternatives, risks, benefits, and recovery in detail.

Personalized to your goals. No two spines—or lifestyles—are the same. We tailor recommendations to your age, activity level, work demands, and personal preferences.

Transparent, step-by-step guidance. From imaging to insurance coordination to post-op milestones, our team provides a clear roadmap so you always know what’s next.

Back and Spine Treatments

Our recommendations are customized to your diagnosis and goals. Options may include:

Non-Invasive Care

Non-Invasive Treatments: a conservative path that may include bracing, medication, or lifestyle modifications.

Physical Therapy: targeted programs to restore mobility, strength, and function.

Injections for Pain: image-guided therapies such as Epidural Steroid Injections, facet, SI joint, and nerve blocks.

Advanced Interventions

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA): heat ablation of pain-generating nerves for longer-lasting relief.

Spinal Cord Stimulation: neuromodulation for certain chronic pain syndromes.

Surgical Options

Spine Surgery: definitive procedures when conservative care isn’t enough.

Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS): smaller incisions, reduced tissue disruption, and faster recovery when appropriate.
